Laughlin
- it was hot. Vic Sessions trounced everyone else. He beat the
second
place team by 24 points. We're going to have to start handicapping
these
things. From now on, Vic can only use Kettle grills and can't start
cooking
until 5 am. DOH! he does that now!
It
was a nice contest, the organizer worked hard to see we had what we
needed,
the Edgewater was a great sponsor, with prize money and a buffet
dinner
for the teams, and did I mention it was hot!
I was by Asleep at the Grill and the Arizona Kid, who are always a
pleasure
to
be around. I met Holy Smokes it's Adam's Rib (Reserve Champion) from
Arizona
who cooks on a Lifetyme pit that looks pretty nice and is relatively
inexpensive
(same neighborhood as a Lang).
My
team (Mojave Hot Stuff) was on the rebound from a terrible showing in
Azusa
in August, and we improved our scores, which I was happy about.
All
in all, it was a very nice contest, and I hope they do it again next
year!
Congrats to Vic, Lakeside (second Reserve Champion who won $500), and
all
the
other teams. (Once again, Southern California teams did the best, with
the
exception of Holy Smokes It's Adam's Ribs. The Northern California and
Arizona
teams are getting better though - we'd better get some more contests
and
Q-fests organized to keep our edge!)
