It is done!
The masters of barbeque from World Barbecue Team Switzerland and BIG
BOYS BARBEQUE.com Switzerland dreamed an eternity of the idea to realize
a vision. They wanted to share there enjoyment on real barbecue with
much more people then before.
In summer 2007, the largest rotisserie smoker was build with the help of
the steel construction company Uli Wickli Neuhausen at the Rhinefalls”
the Big Boy Nr.1, a 8 meter long and 1.5 meter wide, consisting of
steel, rotating Smoker, which can cook up to 600 kilograms of meat in
using 24 cook baskets of total 18m2.
The production of the BIG BOY, got support on the one hand from the
World Barbecue Champion 2002 Beat Jost “Goldenes Kreuz Frauenfeld” and
secondly from the entrepreneur Markus Zimmermann from the company
“Cactus Jack” Zollikerberg Zürich Switzerland.
Since last year August, the Big Boy can be used and has until today,
only one year later, made numerous quantities of meat palatable for
BBQ-Lovers throughout Europe, from Berlin to Paris and Zürich to
Düsseldorf. With the event EURO 08, which has taken place in Switzerland
and Austria, Rolf Zubler and his partner Hansruedi Wälchli got an idea:
to entertain the international guests of EURO 08 in Zurich with
delicious meat and simultaneously they wanted to break the world record
in permanent barbeque. It wasn’t enough for the ‘Barbeque Quarter’ to
break the record of 270 hours, they wanted to make it unattainable with
600 hours BBQ, because events of this magnitude are rare.
And?
They did it!
In the period from Thursday, 5th June 2008 12 o’clock to Monday, 31st
June 2008 12 o’clock, the BIG BOYS BARBEQUE – Team cooked in Zurich 6.1
tonnes of pork and beef. It was gorgeous. Of course, the record in
permanent barbeque was carefully recorded with photos and the media. The
photo report you receive trough a simple e-mail to: wbqa@shlink.ch with
the key word: Photo Report World Record.
The record will be reported in the “Guinness Book – Wold of Records” and
hopefully he will enter. On our website you can see the photo report and
other special texts.
The EURO 08 was in Zurich under the direction of the mayor Elmar
Ledergerber and his committee a resounding success in all respects.
Numerous articles and interviews were published on the action. Thanks to
the media, it was possible to perform the attempt.
The initiators would also like to thank all the guests, the police, the
authority and all the other volunteers, who have supported us positive.
