Tom Chilton posts the following Email Recap of the recent Q-Fest at San Dimas, 14-June-2002 to cbbqa@yahoogroups.com.  Thanks Tom for posting!

Another great Q-fest! The weather was perfect, the atmosphere was easygoing and relaxing, the food was fantastic, and the people were friendly. Dan Cannon's outdoor kitchen was sort of a common prep area, and most of the food was cooked in Gene's incredible trailer and Old Hickory pit.

In the morning, we ate eggs, chorizo, and potatoes cooked masterfully by Dan Cannon, then we had a meeting about the upcoming World BBQ contests, and Gene explained the rules and answered questions. Then everybody went back to socializing and/or cooking. About 1:30 we had the usual BBQ feast, with brisket, ribs, pulled pork, chicken, sausage, tri-tip, grilled pork strips, Chile Colorado â la Ed Bell, potato salad, beans, pasta and basil salad, macaroni and cheese, fennel mashed potatoes, tomato slices with mozarella, salsa, several different sauces, garlic bread, peach pie by (I think) Bill Wight's daughter with an unbelievable crust, cheesecake, and a chocolate cake. (I probably missed a thing or two - I just listed what I ate!) This is the kind of BBQ you can't get in a restaurant - slow smoked by people who really know and care about what they're doing, served right out of the pit.

After eating, people gathered together in several groups in shady areas and discussed whatever was on their minds. After that, Phillip and I had to leave.

All in all, a good time was definitely had by all who attended.
